Cain Vineyard and Winery (Napa Valley)
Cain Vineyard and Winery produces iconic wines in Napa Valley California, embodied by their legendary flagship wine Cain Five. Based on the five classic varietals of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot, the wines defy preconceptions of what ‘California Cabernet’ can be. Do not expect jammy, fruit bombs - from the vineyard to the cellar, these wines are meticulously created.
Since 1991, winegrower, Chris Howell, has built wines of depth, grace and elegance that drink beautifully in their youth and yield rich rewards as they age. Complex in aroma, texture and depth of flavour, Cain wines stand out as both iconic, like Grand Cru Bordeaux, and iconoclastic – revealing layers of floral/herbal notes combined with velvet tannins and expansive finish.
With detailed and meticulous care in the vineyards, first planted in the 1980’s, and later re-planted from 1996 through 2006, the home vineyard was once again re-planted following the 2020 Glass House fire that burned through the bowl of Cain Vineyard on Spring Mountain. With a dedicated team and followers around the globe, the future of Cain continues to evolve with energy and passion.
Ranger Wine is honoured to represent the wines of Cain Vineyard and Winery in Ontario. In the coming months we will be offering the 2016 Cain Five, the 2009 Cain Five as well as the Cain Cuvée NV16, which showcases the wines of two vintages in a non-vintage dated blend.
