Bodegas Piedra (Toro)

Bodegas Piedra is located in the Guarena Valley in the heart of DO Toro, in the western end of the Castilla y Leon region of north western Spain. Wine growing in the region pre-dates Roman times with vineyards planted at altitudes of between 600 and 750 metres above sea level. The soil is a mix of sandstone sediment, clay and limestone which forces the vines to burrow deep for sustenance.

Bodegas Piedra, founded in 1968, has the largest old vineyard plot in Toro, planted to indigenous varietals of Tinta de Toro, Garnacha and, for the white wines, Verdejo. Fully committed to organic farming and sustainable winemaking, the wines reflect the rugged terroir, with the influence of Atlantic breezes that sweep the region. Look for bold, full flavoured, deeply coloured red wines bursting with dark berries and notes of garrigue and warm herbs. The white wine produced from 100% Verdejo, displays herbaceous, nutty characters with balancing lemon zest like acidity.

Ranger Wine looks forward to sharing the range of Bodegas Piedra wines as we highlight this important historic region of Spain.
