SUMMER INTO FALL 2022

SUMMER INTO FALL 2022

As the end of August approaches and the trees take on that slightly faded green from sunshine and the prolonged summer heat, it would be easy to feel that slightly melancholic feeling of ‘another summer over’. It’s been a busy summer for us at Ranger Wine. So much of our wine, long delayed in the quagmire of ponderous supply chains, finally found their way to our private and hospitality clients. If you missed out on the delicious Bodegas Piedra Verdejo or the stunning Res Fortes Rosé, fear not, there will be more next spring, and in larger quantities as both wines sold out in mere days!

There is so much to look forward to for the fall season. Here is a brief roundup of what we expect in the coming weeks.

We will be kicking off September with a focus on two of our amazing producers from BC, Corcelettes Estate Winery and Kitsch Wines from East Kelowna.

2019 Corcelettes Estate Winery Syrah $59.95 per bottle (case of six or twelve)

Fresh from a slew of medals at the National Wine Awards, the 2019 Syrah is refined and elegant. Spending 16 months in premium French Oak barrels prior to bottling has imparted chalky mineral notes wrapped in rich, dark fruits with a white pepper freshness. It scored 91 Wine Align points.

2019 Kitsch Wines 11 Barrel Chardonnay $61.95 per bottle (case of six or twelve)

That’s right, only 11 barrels of this quintessential Okanagan Chardonnay are made each year! We are always struck by the purity of Kitsch Wines. Full malolactic fermentation lends a silken, creamy texture to the wine, supported by excellent, fresh acidity and notes of lemon, jasmine and pear. Almost exotic, yet incredibly true to type.

September will also see the release of Res Fortes Red, a follow up to the brilliant success of the Rosé this summer. We are simply thrilled with the quality of this fully organic winery in the Roussillon, nestled in the rugged foothills of the Pyrenes. Winemaker and owner Moritz Bak and assistant winemaker, Canadian, Chris Kirkham show incredible restraint in their winemaking yet take full advantage of the full phenolic ripeness they achieve with their fruit every year. As of this writing (August 22 !) they are full on into harvest of the 2022 vintage.

2018 Res Fortes Red $27.95 per bottle (case of twelve)

A blend of Grenache Noir, Syrah and Mourvedre, it consists of 30% Grenache Noir aged in puncheons barrels. 30% tank aged Grenache Noir, 10% tank aged Syrah and 30% tank aged Mourvedre. This is a serious red wine, perfect for the fall, lots of red fruit, full bodied and spicy, yet smooth and elegant, perfect for roast lamb, BBQ or slow braises.

Late September will also see the arrival of one our newest producers and our first from Piedmonte. We are delighted to be working with Veglio Luigi e Massimo whose family has farmed for generations in the commune of Diano D’Alba in the stunning Talloria Valley. Their 2018 Barolo Raviole is not to be missed.

2018 Veglio Luigi e Massimo Barolo Raviole DOCG $89.95 per bottle (case of six)

Mature red fruit, deft oak, a lightness of texture that belies a core of depth and power, this is truly a Burgundian/Pinot Noir lover’s wine. 100% Nebbiolo in its most pure expression.

2020 Lyme Bay Winery (Axminster, Devon) Pinot Noir – a multiple award winning, brilliant English wine

We would be remiss if we failed to mention our ongoing partnership with Windrush Estate Winery in the Hockley Valley, just north of Toronto. By sourcing prime Niagara fruit and buttressed by the inspired winemaking of Jonathan Boyle, these wines continue to outperform in quality/price ratios. We are delighted to report they have found their way into the hearts and on to the wine lists of many of the top restaurants in Southern Ontario. The 2018 Pinot Noir ($24.95 per bottle) and the 2019 Pinot Grigio ($22.95 per bottle) can be ordered in multiples of six with free GTA delivery for any twelve bottle order.

Thank you all so much for your ongoing support of Ranger Wine. We take such pleasure and delight in bringing these wines to your tables and cellars. We are most grateful!

 In wine we trust.

 Stephen and Ian
